Elias L. DuBose day book, 1811 - 1817 June.

Record of Dr. DuBose's treatments, which included bleeding, blistering, purgatives, diuretics, laxatives, and emetics to treat his patients' ailments. His book indicates that he mainly treated adults with some care for children; and provided treatment for a few African-American slaves. Also included are DuBose's notes from a lecture during his university studies. Included in the day book are DuBose's notes for a lecture given by "Professor Physich" [sic] during his studies at the "University of Philadelphia." Records at University of Pennsylvania indicate that Elias attended the school in 1811 and 1812, but did not receive a degree.
